If you lack the patience, like me, to click Start, then turn off computer or logoff and then make your selection, here is a way to place a shortcut on your desktop.
- Right Click on your desktop.
- Select “New” and then select “Shortcut”. A popup window will show up on your screen.
- In the box of the popup window, type “shutdown -s -t 00” (without quotes) then click next.
- Now type a name for the shortcut. This can be any name you like, but I put Logoff and a when I created a second button, I named it Restart.
- Click Finish.
- Once the shortcut is on your desktop, right click on it, select Properties and Change Icon. You may get an error message but hit okay. A box of icons should show up next, select one appropriate to the shortcut and you will have your shortcut available on your desktop!
